THE DELTA SALOON ~ SUICIDE TABLE Token Specifications The Center: This is .999 Fine Silver. In the standard $10 tokens, the silver center usually weighs approximately 0.6 troy ounces. The Outer Ring: This is made of brass (giving it that gold-tone look). The Design: The "Suicide Table" version features a detailed engraving of the legendary Faro table on one side and the Delta Saloon logo on the reverse Rarity: While thousands were minted, they were only available in specific "Silver Strike" slot machines. You had to win the token as a jackpot, making them a "trophy" for gamblers. The table depicted on the coin is a 19th-century Faro table with a dark history in Virginia City: The First Victim: A gambler named "Black Jake" reportedly lost $70,000 (a massive fortune in the 1860s) in a single night and took his life at the table. The Second Victim: Another owner lost his entire fortune to a lucky streak by a miner and followed the same fate. The Third Victim: Even after it was converted to a Blackjack table in the 1890s, a third owner allegedly met a similar end after a devastating loss. Today, the actual table still exists (it even survived a building explosion in 2019!) and is displayed at the Delta Saloon's sister property, the Bonanza Saloon. | ||
