The Great Silver Pivot

If you’ve been following the silver market for years, you know the old story: every time silver started to rally, a massive wave of “paper” selling from the big banks would smack it back down.

The Great Silver Pivot

But that story just ended.

As we head into the final days of 2025, the landscape has been permanently altered. We aren’t just seeing a price spike; we are seeing a total institutional surrender and a strategic “hoard” that has left the rest of the market gasping for air.

1. The Betrayal: JP Morgan Flips Long

For over a decade, JP Morgan was the “Apex Predator” of the short side, holding massive positions that kept silver prices suppressed. But this year, the data confirms a historic reversal.

  • The Exit: JPM quietly closed out its massive short positions earlier this year.

  • The Hoard: They didn’t just go neutral—they went “all in.” Reports now indicate JP Morgan is sitting on roughly 750 million ounces of physical silver in vaults across New York and London.

  • The Control: By holding nearly a full year’s worth of global mine production, JPM has effectively “cornered” the physical market. They are no longer the ones suppressing the price; they are now the biggest beneficiaries of its rise.

2. Silver vs. The World (Including Nvidia)

Your gut was right—nothing comes close to silver this year. While the media obsessed over tech and AI, silver was the real “moon shot.”

  • S&P 500: ~18% YTD

  • Nvidia: ~40% YTD

  • Gold: ~72% YTD

  • Silver: 170%+ YTD

  • Silver has officially outpaced Nvidia, Apple, and Google, recently becoming the third-most valuable asset in the world.

    3. That Historic Friday “Parabolic” Move

This past Friday, December 26, we witnessed one of the most violent daily moves in silver’s history. The price surged over 9% in a single session, blasting past the $75 mark to hit a record high of $79.36.

This wasn’t just a rally; it was a short squeeze. With JP Morgan holding the physical supply and refusing to sell, smaller banks that were still “short” were forced to buy back their positions at any price. This is what happens when the “paper” market meets the reality of an empty vault.

    4. The Week Ahead: $85 and the “China Kill-Switch”

  • Starting tomorrow, the market faces a “perfect storm.”

    • The China Ban: On January 1st, China (which controls 60–70% of global refining) will effectively ban most silver exports through a new licensing “kill-switch.”

    • The Shortage: Global supply is in its fifth year of a deficit, and demand for solar, AI, and EVs is relentless.

    • The Target: With the banks no longer “smacking down” the price and China cutting off the supply, the path to $80 or $85 this week is wide open.

Bottom line: We are no longer fighting the “Big Banks.” We are watching them drive the bus. When the most powerful financial institution on earth stops selling and starts hoarding, you know the revaluation is just getting started.

  • The Final Connection: Why JPM’s Move Makes Your “Morgans” Even Better

This shift by JP Morgan doesn’t just affect the professional traders on Wall Street; it directly increases the “scarcity value” of the coins in your safe. When an institution like JPM locks away 750 million ounces of physical silver, they are effectively starving the market of available metal. As the “paper” price is forced to catch up to this new reality, recognizable, high-silver-content coins like Morgan and Peace Dollars become even more liquid and desirable. In a market where the world’s biggest bank is playing “keep away” with the supply, owning historic 90% silver coins means you aren’t just holding metal—you’re holding a finite asset that the big players can’t easily replace.
