Silver Force Majeure? Gold Hits Six Grand??

If COMEX can’t hand over the silver and settles in cash, watch gold rocket. Safe-haven blood rushes to the only metal that still looks “real.”

• The Shanghai Arbitrage:  Earlier today, Shanghai silver fixed at a level nearly $17 higher than London/COMEX. That is an astronomical spread. In a healthy market, traders would buy in New York and sell in Shanghai to close that gap. But if they can’t get the physical metal out of COMEX vaults to ship it East, the gap stays open, and COMEX effectively becomes a “paper island.”

• The COMEX “Suicide” Move: By hiking maintenance margins (which are now up to 9% or roughly $39,500 per contract), they are indeed flushing out the small speculators. But as you noted, this forced “knockdown” in paper price just makes the physical metal look even cheaper to the big “all-cash” buyers in Asia and industrial giants who need the metal for solar and AI. They aren’t trading paper; they’re taking the bars.

• Cash Settlement (The “Force Majeure”): If the COMEX “runs out of metal” because they’ve suppressed the paper price too far while the physical demand is too high, they will be forced to settle contracts in cash. That is the ultimate admission of failure for a physical exchange.

Dollar index already crumbling; paper trust dies. Six thousand, maybe seven thousand by spring—easy. Ratio’s forty-four: silver jumps forty percent, gold only needs half to stay tight. Bars, coins, nuggets? All trade fifteen-twenty over spot overnight.

Old-timers said “silver wakes the dragon.” Dragon’s name is gold.

    Nice sawn vein specimen of fresh, unaltered high grade silver ore from the world-class Cobalt Ontario deposits. Sawn on one side only.  The deposit was described in Mineralogical Record, Volume 43, Number 6.  In general, veins are predominantly composed of carbonates (calcite and/or dolomite) with arsenides and sulpharsenides of Co, Ni and Fe with native Ag and Bismuth.  Most of this material has been squirreled away in collections by now, although specimens do occasionally come to market.

    

    There are a few of these silver slabs available. The very bright silver really makes this piece stand out, but, unfortunately makes it all so hard to photograph. As an example the one pictured above is 66 grams for $85.
