As of December 5, 2025, the spot price of gold has significantly outperformed the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, while standard CD interest rates have seen a downward trend.

- Goldhas seen a massive surge, driven by geopolitical uncertainty, central bank demand, and de-dollarization trends, reaching record highs in 2025. The YTD return is around 60%, making it the top-performing asset among this group.
- TheS&P 500andDow Jones Industrial Averagehave posted solid positive returns, though significantly lower than gold. Both indices have seen strong performance, with the S&P 500 up around 17% and the Dow up around 13% for the year.
- Standard CD interest rateshave been declining through 2025, following a series of Federal Reserve rate cuts that began in late 2024 and continued in September and October 2025. While top high-yield CDs still offer rates around 4.00-4.50% APY, these rates are fixed and expected to drop further in the future, contrasting with the appreciation of the other assets.

High Grade Silver Ore Slab

Nice sawn vein specimen of fresh, unaltered high grade silver ore from the world-class Cobalt Ontario deposits. Sawn on one side only. The deposit was described in Mineralogical Record, Volume 43, Number 6. In general, veins are predominantly composed of carbonates (calcite and/or dolomite) with arsenides and sulpharsenides of Co, Ni and Fe with native Ag and Bismuth. Most of this material has been squirreled away in collections by now, although specimens do occasionally come to market.
There are a few of these silver slabs available. The very bright silver really makes this piece stand out, but, unfortunately makes it all so hard to photograph. As an example the one pictured above is 66 grams for $85.
