Gold vs. Bitcoin

The comparison between the biggest single-day dollar drop for Bitcoin and gold year-to-date (YTD) 2025 is stark due to their massive difference in price per unit.
Comparison of Single-Day Dollar Drops (YTD 2025)
Gold vs. Bitcoin
- Bitcoin’s Volatility Dominates in Dollar Terms: The $8,000 to $9,000 single-day drop in Bitcoin is dramatically larger than any single-day dollar drop for gold, mainly because Bitcoin’s price per coin is about 30 times higher than the price of one ounce of gold.
- To put this in perspective, an $8,000 drop from a price of $120,000 for Bitcoin is a drop of about 6.7%.
- For gold to have a drop of $8,000, its price would have to fall by roughly 200% from its recent high of over $4,000 per ounce, which is impossible.
- Gold’s Volatility is Minimal in Dollar Terms: While gold has experienced fluctuations, its price movements are much more subdued. A significant one-day move for gold is often measured in tens of dollars. For example, on a day when gold was consolidating after hitting a record high, one report showed a small drop, and a $100+ drop in a single day for gold would be an extremely rare and historically significant event.
In summary: The largest single-day dollar drop for Bitcoin ($8,000 to $9,000) is nearly 100 times larger than any typical significant single-day dollar drop for gold (likely less than $100) in 2025. This highlights the vastly different scale and volatility of the two assets.

High Grade Silver Ore Slab

silver slab – example only
Nice sawn vein specimen of fresh, unaltered high grade silver ore from the world-class Cobalt Ontario deposits. Sawn on one side only. The deposit was described in Mineralogical Record, Volume 43, Number 6. In general, veins are predominantly composed of carbonates (calcite and/or dolomite) with arsenides and sulpharsenides of Co, Ni and Fe with native Ag and Bismuth. Most of this material has been squirreled away in collections by now, although specimens do occasionally come to market.
There are a few of these silver slabs available. The very bright silver really makes this piece stand out, but, unfortunately makes it all so hard to photograph. As an example the one pictured above is 66 grams for $45.
