Congolese Villagers get the biggest surprise of their lives, after discovering a whole mountain of Gold!

This video from the Republic of the Congo documents the biggest surprise for some villagers in this country, as an entire mountain filled with gold was discovered!

They dig the soil inside the gold deposits and take them to their homes in order to wash the dirt & extract the gold.  Locals can be seen washing the dirt off the gold and extracting the precious metal.

The country authorities had to impose a ban on mining activities in the village to stop the crazy gold rush.

The DRC is widely considered one of the world’s richest countries in natural resources; its untapped deposits of raw minerals are estimated to be worth in excess of US$24 trillion. The DRC has 70% of the world’s coltan, a third of its cobalt, more than 30% of its diamond reserves, and a tenth of its copper.

The DRC generated up to 70% of its export revenue from minerals in the 1970s and 1980s and was particularly hit when resource prices deteriorated at that time. By 2005, 90% of the DRC’s revenues derived from its minerals. Congolese citizens are among the poorest people on Earth. DR Congo consistently has the lowest, or nearly the lowest, nominal GDP per capita in the world. The DRC is also one of the twenty lowest-ranked countries on the Corruption Perceptions Index.
