How to find Arizona GOLD – More Productive GOLD Prospecting

Video is really for the new prospector or those thinking of getting into gold prospecting.

I haven’t been drywashing for gold in 6 or 7 years, just been doing gold detecting.

Prospector Mike and I had found some nuggets in two different washes in the Santa Domingo wash area. Mike actually found five good-sized nuggets the largest of which was about 3/4 of an ounce in a wash area of just about 150 feet long.

Then in another small wash, Mike found some more nice nuggets and now I found my largest nugget for the year, a two and a quarter gram beauty!

So, we decided that if we’re finding nuggets in these relatively small areas,  why not dry wash these same areas, just because there may be a lot of find gold there that our detectors can not pick up.

So with this in mind, we filled a 5 gallon bucket 3/4 of the way full, just classifying the material down to a half an inch.  I posted the pictures of how much gold was in each  bucket test earlier in the week but I’ll post them here again.

Now since this was our third area where we go are going to do a three-quarter 5-gallon bucket third sample before dry washing, but, since we were already there dry washing, I figured I’d still do the sample, and I’m glad I did.

The results of that 3rd. sample when comparing it to the two other samples we did, shows that the washes where we found a number of nuggets have much more fine gold then this third area.  Actually, if we would have had the opportunity to test the 3rd area 1st., we wouldn’t have even gone there to dry washing in the first place.

We will be going back, to our first test area, where I personally believe, from the test results, we are going to find two to three times as much gold then in the third area that we actually did dry washing in.

When we get the opportunity, hopefully in the next week, we’ll get back out there and spend 2 hours before we do a cleanup, so we can compare the results of dry washing to what we did yesterday.

I recall there was a time just north of Yuma, where we spent the whole day testing old mine dumps.  Not only did we find out that there was gold in the tailing piles, but also gold in virgin ground right near the mine.

Because of these tests, we ended up walking up a hill quite a ways to test area that turned out to far better than all the others.

We dry wash that area, and really came out with a lot of fine gold.  Unfortunately I don’t recall how much gold, because this must have been going back about 10 years.  But, this was a classic example of doing research, before doing the hard work!

Hopefully, if you’re still with me, and you pick up any ting out of my ramblings, it would be if you want to improve you’re prospecting results,  take the time to test your areas to determine which area has the potential to be more productive than the others!
